Aphelion – McLaren Vale, South Australia

Aphelion was founded in 2014 by husband and wife team Rob Mack and Louise Rhodes with a focus on hand-picked, small-batch winemaking and a mission to “bottle sunshine” (aphelion is Greek for “from the sun”). Less than ten vintages into their journey, Aphelion’s rise has been meteoric, winning multiple accolades including McLaren Vale’s Best Small Producer award in 2019. Aphelion’s speciality is Grenache, both the white and red varieties.

Jimmy says: “What a discovery Grenache Blanc is – quickly becoming one of my favourite varieties, and Callow from Aphelion is a great place to start. This is an intense and bright wine with a light yellow colour with hints of lemon and other citrus. As the Aphelion name suggests, this is bottled sunshine all the way from Australia .”
